Viagra Effects

Viagra Effects in Men and Women

Viagra effects have been widely studied since its creation. Researchers have found that Viagra (Sildenafil), as any other medication has positive and negative effects (e.g. side effects). Even though Viagra was created to treat heart condition in the beginning, the developing company (Pfizer) saw that Viagra effects were more effective when treating erectile dysfunction. During the study phase of Viagra, men who were taking the medication showed the more obvious Viagra effects: an effective erection of the penis and the capacity to hold this erection for a longer period of time than usual. Erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men was then, Viagra's target. Nevertheless, it is very important for Viagra users to remember that Viagra will probably not work if there is a significant lack of blood flow and that Viagra effects will not be operative if there is no sexual excitation involved.

Viagra works effectively, basically because the scientists use techniques that allows them to control different parts of the body with the components of the medication. Therefore, Sildenafil usage is also spread to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension and improve exercise capacity in men and women (Revatio). Viagra works by relaxing the blood vessels surrounding the penis, thus, letting its blood flow to increase, provoking an erection. Viagra effects start to show within 30 minutes to 1 hour and can last for about 4 hours. A prolonged erection, called priapism, can be hurtful to men and it may damage the penis. Some other indicators of a possible threat caused by Viagra are to be observed during sexual activity: dizziness, nauseas, pain, numbness or tingling in chest, arms, neck and/or jaw. If some of these symptoms are present, Viagra's user should call the doctor right away. Long-term Viagra effects include headaches, color vision problems, heart attacks and dependency (in young men).

Viagra effects in women

Viagra became a popular and wanted medication among a wide range of population because its usage concerns men and women equally when performing sexually. Consequently, women have also started to wonder if they could experience the same Viagra effects as men do. Women who suffer FSAD (female sexual arousal disorder), see a solution in Viagra. Female sexual arousal disorder consists in a lack of blood flow to the genitals and a lack of lubrication. However, experts clarify that if Viagra is to be effective in women, it would be only in physiological based problems and not for women underlying emotional or psychological problems.

Researchers have not come to an agreement on this matter. Some researchers support the theory that Sildenafil has the capacity to engorge the erectile tissue of the clitoris with blood, allowing women a similar Viagra effect. Studies on this subject are not conclusive and scientists affirm that if women can experience the same arousing sexually-related effect as men, they could suffer similar side effects as well. Furthermore, researchers highlight the possibility that women consuming this medication could go through other Viagra effects which can be significantly more serious. Information about Viagra used on women is yet to be completed.
